About Us

A Proud Heritage Since 1880

Founded as a small butcher’s shop in Wolverhampton in 1880, Gills has grown into one of Britain’s most loved sausage and pork pie brands.

In 1934, the first Gills factory was built, marking the beginning of a new era of production while retaining the traditional craftsmanship that defines us. For over 130 years, we’ve earned the loyalty of customers by staying true to our roots and delivering the highest quality products.

Firstly we use fresh pork, and secondly we use tried and tested recipes, which draw upon the long family involvement in the meat trade. We are members of the British Meat Processors Association, and so our premises and procedures are routinely and independently scrutinized.

Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

We’re passionate about working with British farms and sourcing Red Tractor-certified pork. This supports the nation’s agriculture industry and assures food safety, animal welfare, hygiene, and environmental protection.

Our dedication to quality is reflected in our accreditations, including BMPA, BRC, and Red Tractor certifications, which highlight our commitment to excellence in every aspect of our business.

For decades, Gills has been at the heart of British dining, supplying our famous frozen and fresh sausages as well as delicious pork pies made with our own secret recipes. Over the years, we’ve won numerous awards and built incredible loyalty among customers. Today, we proudly serve a wide range of clients, from well-known retailers and wholesalers to food service providers.

Staying True to Our Roots

Despite our growth, we remain true to the values and traditions that made Gills a household name. Our trade counter and van sales depot in the heart of Wolverhampton serve the local community, keeping our family spirit alive.

We believe in balancing innovation with tradition, ensuring every product we create reflects the magic and care of our beginnings.
